Whatever your standard of golf, there is a way round to suit you. The fairways are grassed with Kikuyu from tee to green while the greens themselves are the first to be planted in South Africa in Crenshaw bent grass. Other interesting features include the two Baobab trees, which flank one of the greens. Further interest is provided by some of the greens and tees, which have been terraced into the side of the Pilanesberg Mountains. Pretoria Golf Club

Pretoria Golf Club, or Pretoria West as it is popularly known, is steeped in history. It was established in 1894, which makes it the oldest club in Pretoria. According to reports, President Paul Kruger used to visit the club in his stately carriage or luncheon engagements.

A portion of the clubhouse was utilised by British officers during the South African War (1899 - 1902). This South Africa golf course is carefully located at Morkel Street, Pretoria. With over 100 years of golf to look back on, a great sense of tradition exists at Pretoria.

Goldfields West Country Club

The course meanders through a nature reserve, which is naturally a most relaxing and a completely unspoiled environment where buck are free to roam and the bird life is prolific. The well-watered Gold Fields West (par-72) is a relatively short course by modern standard and the five par-fives, which each measure less than 470 metres, all offer birding opportunities. It is even possible for the golfer of medium strength to get close to the greens with two full shots.

The superb fairways are fairly wide and the greens are big and receptive for great golf in South Africa. This helps to compensate for the difficulties, which the golfer may experience with the putting blade. This drop-dead stunning golf course in South Africa is found in East Driefontein Mine, Carltonville.
