Hole 1 - Par 4
Often this hole is played into a prevailing South-East wind. With a tight out of bounds on the right hand side, a good drive is required in between two fairway bunkers. A long approach is required to the green which is guarded by a greenside bunker on the right.
Pro Tip: A straight drive is required to avoid the fairway bunkers.

Hole 2 - Par 4
A friendly dog-leg left with out of bounds along the boundary fence on the right. Golfers should aim right off the tee to avoid a fairway bunker on the left. Past the corner, the hole opens up to a tree lined green that can be attacked with a good iron shot.
Pro Tip: A lofted approach will combat too much run on this hard green.

Hole 3 - Par 3
A short par three with a narrow but long green, sloping from right to left. In the prevailing South-East wind this hole is infamous for being the "shortest par five" on the Westlake Golf Course. You would be surprised at how easily it throws a double bogey your way. This slick green has a tricky slope that will certainly test your short game and putting.
Pro Tip: Choose the right club and via left.

Hole 4 - Par 5
It's our longest and most difficult hole on the Westlake Golf Course. Just over 500m in length, this hole will definitely require 3 good shots to find the green in regulation. The hole doglegs at about 2/3rds of the way down the fairway. Bunkers are visible from the tee on both sides of the fairway and will come into play for some golfers. Aim to the middle of our longest green to avoid the bunker on the right and our very own "valley of sin" on the left.
Pro Tip: Distance control on the wedge approach is required.

Hole 5 - Par 4
Time to make a birdie. This Par 4 has a wide landing area and a straight 3 wood (for men)off the tee will take the trees out of play. A short to mid iron is required for your approach to the large receptive green but beware of the tricky slopes on the green.
Pro Tip: Accuracy off the tee is key.

Hole 6 - Par 3
The longest Par 3 at Westlake Golf Club is a tough one. Myrtle bushes line the right side of the fairway. The left greenside bunker catches all of the good shots that run off the sloped green from right to left. Par is a good score no matter the handicap.
Pro Tip: Stay below the hole (left).

Hole 7 - Par 5
Get your nerves under control for this tee shot over the water at number seven. A long fairway awaits you with three bunkers on the right hand side and two on the left. The jelly bean green is slightly elevated and there are two swails on either side of the green. A greenside bunker on the right will catch any wayward shots. Accuracy here is the key.
Pro Tip: If you can't take on the water, aim left and take a short-cut which would cost you an extra shot.

Hole 8 - Par 4
An accurate tee shot is required. A narrow green awaits with water on the right and two testing bunkers on the left. For the long hitters this hole is the epitome of the term "risk and reward". Keep it straight all the way down to the hole.
Pro Tip: Keep the ball left with the approach shot.

Hole 9 - Par 4
This Par 4 dog-leg right will be a stern test for any golfer. Trees line the right hand side of the fairway. This green is narrow and slopes severely from left to right.
Pro Tip: Keep the ball left for a good approach.

Hole 10 - Par 4
This hole at Westlake Golf Club offers one of the most demanding tee shots you will face at Westlake. It's a short dogleg right with towering pine trees lining the right side of a sloping fairway. Water does come into play on the left side.
The two tiered green is guarded by a greenside bunker on the right and out of bounds at the back. Correct club selection is key to hitting the green and Par is a good start to the 9!
Pro Tip: Be sure to keep the tee shot left here

Hole 11 - Par 4
A wide open fairway with mountain views in the distance. This hole rewards a good tee shot. You will find fairway bunkers on the right and left, they may come into play for the longer hitters who fly the hill off the tee. The green is surrounded by hazards with two bunkers either side of the front entrance and a hazard in play at the back down the steep slope.
Pro Tip: The slopes on this green will test you

Hole 12 - Par 4
Westlake's feature hole is the second longest Par 4 and described by Bobbly Locke as, "one of the best Par 4's in the country". It's a dog-leg left requiring accuracy to avoid the towering pine trees which line the fairway. A narrow elevated entrance to the green is a considering factor when playing your approach.
Pro Tip: Accuracy here is the key.

Hole 13 - Par 5
This par five with out of bounds all the way along the left, is often played into the wind. The approach requires accuracy to avoid the three bunkers guarding this small green.
Pro Tip: The key here is to have a good drive.

Hole 14 - Par 4
A straight-forward shortish par 4 with fairway bunkers on the left and right. An accurate approach shot is required to this small green. One of the easier birdie holes.
Pro Tip: Stay left with your approach shot.

Hole 15 - Par 3
A short par three that requires a lofted approach to clear the bunker in front of the green. This uphill sloping green has three bunkers surrounding it.
Pro Tip: Stay below the hole for easier putting.

Hole 16 - Par 5
A tough driving hole to an uphill, dog-leg right fairway. This par five will test your stamina towards the end of the round. Favour the left hand side of the fairway. The green is exceptionally wide with a small slope in the middle. Be sure to hit one club more when approaching the subtly undulating green.
Pro Tip: Don't go left of the green as it will leave you with a very tricky chip!

Hole 17 - Par 3
A beautiful par three with views of Steenberg mountain. Trees overhang the left side of the fairway so be sure to avoid them off the tee. The green is uphill and it features some tricky slopes.
Pro Tip: Your putting will be tested here.

Hole 18 - Par 4
This final dog-leg left will test you all the way from tee to green. The fairway is tree-lined and requires a drive down the middle or right side. Fairway bunkers on the right of the green catch a short or wayward approach. The greenside bunker on the left is deep and it best avoided.
Pro Tip: Play for the heart of the green.
