South Africa Golf and Safari Holidays

South Africa golf and safari holidays offer the opportunity of witnessing wildlife prancing on the luscious, well-manicured lawns of a world-class South African golf course. Take a break from your safari to test your hand at a round of golf at one of these golf courses.

White River Country Club

White River Country Club in Mpumalanga was designed by Gary Player 25 years ago as a 9-hole course and later revamped to an exciting 18-hole layout. The course offers a great challenge to the amateur and professional golfer.

The 18 hole, 6061 metre par 71 golf course provides you with ample opportunity to test your skills while golfing in South Africa. With the White River flowing through the parkland golf course, interesting water features come into play at 9 holes.

Two of the par-fives, namely No 7 (490 m) and No 11 (488m) are comparable to Augusta National in their beauty, challenge and abundance of water.

Sabie River Golf Club

This golf course in Mpumalanga is a practice tee and a clubhouse, which offers light snacks and has a dining room. There are facilities for tennis, squash, bowls and swimming. An irrigation system ensures that the kikuyu fairways are well knitted throughout the year.

There are bayview grass greens and five dams on the course; water comes into play on 14 holes; silicon sand bunkers guard most of the greens. There are plenty of existing trees, and many more have been planted recently. The rough is short.

This South Africa golf course is fairly hilly and very scenic, which can be made extremely challenging or fairly forgiving by switching tees and pin placements.

Badplaas Golf Club

Badplaas Golf Club lies amongst the foothills of Mpumalanga's Hlumuhlumu Mountains. The golf course in South Africa is situated 7km (4.3 miles) from unequalled panoramic views. This challenging 9-hole course is privately owned, ideally designed and built by Leon Rorich. It incorporates the natural contours and promises a wonderful Mpumlanga golf experience for both the low and high handicapper.

Badplaas Golf Course is anything but flat. It's elevation changes not only translate into an adventure of judgment and shot making, but also provides a number of spectacular views.

On a fine day, with lush Kikuyu fairways underfoot and bentgrass greens that overlooks the valleys, a round of golf at Badplaas is food for the soul.

Nelspruit Golf Club

This Mpumalanga golf course has undergone radical changes in recent time, but no one would argue that these alterations have not been improvements. For many years, this South Africa golf course was devoid of bunkers, but since Peter Matkovich was commissioned to revamp and modernize the course, bunkers have appeared, which strengthens the design.

The lowveld has wonderful fauna and flora, examples of which can be seen on the course, which has wisely kept any hint of exotic trees and shrubs from sullying the indigenous varieties. A marvellous range of holes makes up what is a demanding yet fair test and, after a strong start to the round; the course presents opportunities for scoring well.

The Palace of the Lost City

Gary Player designed this par 72 South African golf course, and he has often described this course to be one of his favourites. The course features a unique desert-style design and stretches 6 983 meters off the back tee, offering spectacular views. At the 11, 14, 15 and 16 hole a challenging yet fun golfing experience.

The golf clubhouse offers state-of-the-art facilities along with a lounge that overlooks the 9th and 8th holes. In between challenging golfing matches, optional Big Five game drives to Pilanesberg National Park can be arranged.
