Directions from Port Elizabeth:
Alicedale is about one hour from Port Elizabeth (PE) towards Cradock. Travel on the N2 from PE towards Grahamstown. At the interchange to Grahamstown, travel straight on the N10 towards Cradock. Eighty kilometres (49.7 miles) from PE, travel 11 kilometres (6.8 miles) past Peterson. Turn right at the Alicedale and Bushman Sands sign and follow the road for another 17 kilometres (10.6 miles) into Alicedale.
Directions from East London:
This is approximately a 2 and a half hour journey. Take the N2 towards PE. travel 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) from Grahamstown and turn right onto the R72 to Alicedale and Bushman Sands. Follow the road for 30 kilometres (18.6 miles) into Alicedale.
By Air:
Shamwari Game Reserve is located approximately 20 minutes from Alicedale and has its own airstrip. Air charters and private aircraft can be arranged.
